2013 Commencement Information

In order to accommodate all degree candidates and their guests, the Urbana-Champaign campus of the University of Illinois has scheduled two campus-wide Commencement ceremonies on Sunday, May 12. Institute of Aviation’s ceremony will be at 10:30 a.m at Assembly Hall.

The Institute of Aviation will hold a separate ceremony for Aviation B.S. graduates and Award recipients at 2 pm on May 12th in the Illini Union Ballroom.

All graduates are encouraged to participate, but attendance is not mandatory. While most students attend both the Institute of Aviation Convocation Ceremony and the Campus-wide Commencement Ceremony, you may attend either, both, or none.

Registration for the Institute of Aviation Convocation ceremony is required by all graduates.  Please visit http://aviation.illinois.edu/internal/graduation/login.php to register for the Aviation Convocation Ceremony, and get information on the additional steps necessary to participate.

There is no registration for the Campus-wide Commencement Ceremony held on Sunday.

Tickets are not issued for the Institute of Aviation Convocation Ceremony and there is no limit to the number of friends and family graduates may invite.  If a graduate plans to participate in the Campus-wide Commencement Ceremony, tickets are required and may be picked up at Assembly Hall Box Office or the Illini Union Help Desk free of charge.  There is no limit to the number of tickets they may request for the Campus-wide Ceremony, but please only request the number needed and that will be used.

The Institute of Aviation Convocation Ceremony should last approximately an hour.  There is no rehearsal for either of the ceremonies.

Academic Attire is required and can be ordered at http://www.herffjones.com/illinois. After placing your order, you will have the opportunity to print a receipt. Please present the receipt when you pick up the apparel. You will not be charged the rental fee if academic attire is not picked up during the distribution period.

Rental fees must be paid in full by cash or check, made payable to Herff Jones, when you pick up the apparel. Payment cannot be made in advance.

You may keep the tassel as a souvenir. Orange and blue souvenir tassels may be purchased for $10; however, they are not to be worn during ceremonies.
